I think this is a very interesting topic even for those who do not make money online. Take for instance your Flickr account. It would be a shame if your thousands of pictures are no longer fully accessible to your family.

I like your idea about the spreadsheet but I’d also take a few more steps.

1) If you have porn, get a porn buddy to clean up your stuff.
2) If you have anything super secret but important, put the passwords into a safe deposit box that can only be opened by an authorized party after your death.

Thanks, Stephan. It’s not something we want to think about but it’s definitely a reality. We only have so much time to do what we enjoy. I think its a good idea to involve others in our online affairs at some point, so they have an idea of the scope. We really can have our hands in many different pots at once.

Great topic. It’s something I have talked over with my wife a few times. I do so many different things that I could hardly list them. She has basically told me that she couldn’t take over, so who knows. I have thought of the option of having at least one employee or partner later on who knows the stuff.

A very interesting post but somewhat insignificant. You’re largely talking to those that actually make money with this stuff which limits it…probably to most of your readership, including me by the way.

It may be better served to those claiming the $$$$$$ they’re making doing this…LOL

But then again, they’re probably not reading.

Nonetheless, provocative. Perhaps as much so in other elements of the “theme” than blogging. Important yes. Morbid??? Probably not.
