About
Welcome to my site, where you’ll find dynamite posts on blogging, writing, and marketing.
The Big Bang
My childhood had little by way of karate classes, boy scouts, discos, theaters, arcades or freckle-faced girls. I did have an abundant supply of books, electronics, and imagination. I began dreaming of becoming a writer at an early age, probably around the time I finished Gary Jennings’ book, Aztec.
In 1998, I began taking classes at a community college. I realized at that point, writing was exhilirating, freeing, and ultimately my course in life. The realization propelled me through two years at the college and an additional two years at the University of Illinois. While I was wiling away the hours reading and writing, I also made money talking to doctors on the phone.
I assisted them in submitting their abstracts through an online website service. The tech support job had its benefits. The main one being the internet for several hours a day, with minimal interruptions. At times we would surf the latest sites, and the guys I worked with all new the best ways to waste time. One informed me of a site named blogger, where I could journal my ideas like he did on LJ.
I bit. I’ve spent several years blogging on my personal life, with a bit of a following. I blogged as a way to pause life, review, and orchestrate everything through words. The Jason Boom site offers a place to learn, as well as a place for me to share what I know most about — writing.
Who am I?
I am not Jason Boom by birth, only through imagination. It’s not really a penname either, as I never kept it a secret that I created the name Jason Boom. My name is Jason Frye. I am a blogger, freelancer, writer, webmaster, business owner, and husband.
I’ve had a few people ask what I do for a living. While that seems like an easy answer, I can tell you I find many ways to make money in the the real world and online.
I have been making a living online, through freelance writing, web design, and a web hosting business in my community for a few years. I have freelanced for top companies in the US, and many smaller businesses. I excel with SEO copywriting, technical guides, and basic research articles. At the University of lllinois I studied creative writing.
I am married, without children. My wife and I own our home in a quiet neighborhood of Champaign, IL. Most days find me camped at my computer working on an article or website with the passion you all know and love.
